Continually enlarged, embellished, but always lulled by the sound of its fountain with the head of a Corsican mouflon, the hotel backs on to the hillside, surrounded by lush gardens with ancient shade.

You will soon get the feel of the place and the setting is grandiose: the hotel dominates its own beach like a private residence, shimmering with lights, nestling in a heavenly naturally protected, secluded creek. The view stretches to the horizon towards the motionless shores of the Sanguinary Island and the lights of Ajaccio.

Far from the madding crowd, calm prevails and gives the feeling of a stopover on a beach at the other end of the world. It is hard to believe you are in a hotel here. It is more like staying with a friend in another country.

The hotel is like a jewel box housing its 18 rooms and 7 suites like 25 different stopovers in the house, each one offering an escape route to the sea or the gardens, and each with its own jealously guarded number. Le Maquis offers refinement and wellbeing which appeal to a faithful French and international clientele.

With the magical changes of the seasons, each window opens onto a unique panorama for which the Island of Beauty is justly famed.

The architecture is in the Mediterranean style mixing tile-roofed houses and crenellated buildings in the style of the Genovese watchtowers and Corsican citadels, the individual decor, the antique furniture, the Pierre Frey drapes, the wooden shutters, the exposed beams… soaking up this delicate, refined world is pure heaven.

The atmosphere of a stately home, the harmony in the place, the details catch the eye, and immediately a natural feeling to belong to the space is coming. Le Maquis lets you quickly settle in and walk around as if you own it.

• Arrivals and departures: upon arrival, rooms are available from 3pm. Please advise in case of late arrival. On leaving, rooms must be vacated by noon

• Room cleaning service: our chambermaids and floor valets go through your room twice a day, including once early in the evening to freshen and if necessary change the bath and beach linen.

• Safe: an individual electronic wall safe is in your room for your objects of value. The hotel can also provide a box inside
• Currency exchange: the hotel cash desk is not able to accept foreign currencies for exchange but can accept cash advances to your credit on your final bill.
• Cigarettes: on sale at reception. However the public areas of the hotel and its restaurant are no smoking areas.

• Animals: Le Maquis has always been happy to welcome well-behaved pets, which are allowed in all the rooms. However, they must be kept on a lead within the hotel and are not allowed in the restaurant or around the swimming pools. Any damage caused by them will be charged to you. There is a €40 daily surcharge per animal (excluding food).

• Disabled access: the hotel’s situation on a terrain sloping down towards the sea has necessitated the presence of 5 different construction levels. While contributing to the charm of the house, this feature does not unfortunately make for the best conditions for welcoming person of reduced mobility. A special access path at the hotel entrance and a lift are the only facilities which it has been possible to provide to reach the rooms and floors of the main building only. None of the rooms are specifically equipped. The restaurant and its terrace can be reached on one level, but the access to certain rooms, to the swimming pools and the beach is made by steps or stairways.
